ENIX ANNOUNCES SEQUEL TO MONSTER HIT; ‘DRAGON WARRIOR MONSTERS 2’ TO SHIP THIS FALL
Two Exciting Versions Make for Twice the Fun
SEATTLE, WA, March 22, 2001 - Monster madness is coming to Game Boy® Color this fall as Enix America Inc. today announced Dragon Warrior Monsters 2 - Cobi’s Journey and Dragon Warrior Monsters 2 - Tara’s Adventure, two new sequels to last year’s best-selling Dragon Warrior Monsters game which to date has sold more than two million units worldwide.
Already released in Japan, where it is know as Dragon Quest Monsters 2, Dragon Warrior Monsters 2 sold more than 500, 000 units in its first week.
“Dragon Warrior Monsters 2 truly lifts the franchise to a new height via the introduction of two distinct games that are intrinsically linked via their tradable game-play elements;” said Paul Handelman, president of Enix America. “The phenomenal success of Monsters 2 in Japan certainly bodes well for the U.S. launch later this year.”
Dragon Warrior Monsters 2 is the story of Cobi and Tara, a brother and sister who move with their family to the island of GreatLog to begin monster farming. But things soon go awry on the island when the mischievous Prince Kameha and his monster sidekick, Warubou, show up. Thanks to this troublesome duo, GreatLog begins to sink into the ocean and it’s up to Cobi and Tara to find and train an army of Dragon Warrior monsters and save the island.
Featuring an engaging RPG story told in the delightful Dragon Warrior style, Dragon Warrior Monsters 2 is actually two separate games - Cobi’s Journey and Tara’s Adventure -- with each game featuring a different main character with distinctive skills.
Packed with over 300 monsters from 11 monster families, including new monsters from Dragon Warrior VII, in Dragon Warrior Monsters 2 players will need to call upon all their monster taming, breeding and training skills if they are to succeed. Each game incorporates, unique story elements, different monster encounter rates and randomly generated worlds, thus providing players with a different and challenging game-play experience every time.
An exciting component of Dragon Warrior Monsters 2 is the ability to join both worlds. Via the Link Cable, players can have both worlds converge and in doing so, can:
- Trade or give away monsters they have found;
- Pit their monsters against their friends’ monsters in all-out Monster Matches;
- Team up with their friends to battle against AI monster teams;
- Trade magic keys to unlock new worlds and scenarios that were previously unavailable.
We are all looking forward to the release! |
